K12 Teachers - let Britannica help you prepare your lesson plans!

Britannica Online School Edition includes encyclopedia articles and student Learning Material activities that have been correlated to your state standards and benchmarks. Click the orange "Standards" button within the article or Learning Material to see how the article or activity connects to your state's standards.

To look up specific standards that you are trying to address, click "Teacher Resources" in the Britannica header, and click the orange "Curriculum Standards" link. Then, simply select your subject area, grade level, and state. The curriculum standards and grade level expectations will appear. Click on the blue link that reads "materials correlated to this standard" to find supporting Britannica articles and additional online resources and lesson plans.

Britannica Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

In September, Britannica is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15) with its Spotlight, "Encyclopaedia Britannica's Guide to Hispanic Heritage in the Americas".

This feature explores the people, places, events, and traditions that have shaped - and continue to shape - the vibrant Hispanic culture that thrives today in South, Central, and North America. Read and learn about writers, artists, political and business leaders such as Diego Rivera, Hugo Chavez, and Celia Cruz. Learn about various Latin American countries, historical events, and cultural celebrations.

New Gale Databases

Through careful negotiation with online database vendors, the UDLib/SEARCH program is pleased to confirm that all databases available in 2008/2009 will continue to be available in 2009/2010. In addition, new databases from Gale Cengage Learning will be added to the existing databases.
